Level 1 – Beginner’s Art Course

Course content: Techniques, skills, theory, methods and materials

Our beginner’s art course consists of approximately 30 hours of study and involves a number of assignments made up of carefully structured, practical drawing or painting projects.

Aimed at those with little or no drawing and painting experience, this course is a complete guide for beginners wishing to learn the fundamental techniques of painting and drawing.

It is also perfect if you do not think that you can draw – Stan will prove that, with a little help and guidance, anyone can learn how to paint and draw.

These online art lessons will introduce the basic skills, techniques and methods of painting and drawing that will develop your visual ability.

You will learn how to use and apply the following:

  1. Line
  2. Texture
  3. Mark making
  4. Tone
  5. Colour
  6. Shape
  7. Form
  8. Composition
  9. Movement
  10. Drawing systems including perspective

Assignments with clear, step-by-step instructions will develop your understanding of the basic practices of painting and drawing. You will also learn how to apply traditional skills, techniques and theories, while embracing experimental approaches towards painting and drawing.

Throughout the course the assignments will be placed within an art historical context.

At the end of Level 1 leisure art classes, you will have an insight into your own creative potential and artistic direction and can progress to Level 2.
